Study Partners

For part of an elective course I did for IWU I had to have study partners. I checked with the IWU administration and received an Okay to use my Mom and Dad. I guess what better people to use than two old retired school teachers with masters degrees. I hope some of their knowledge rubbed off on me. I set up an extra Dell monitor so they could see and watch what I was doing.
Thanks Mom and Dad!

Happenings at the Center

Kids having fun with a Diet Coke and a Mentos.
Buddy dropping in the Mentos.

The camera did not go off fast enough and catch the 10' high column of pop that spewed into the air. After it was done, there was only about 2 inches of pop left. Amazing!

The main reason I stopped...to pull the toilet and unplug it. :(

...and of course I always have to work on the pinball machine.

All in a days work!

Letter from India

"The indigenous churches in India have a great burden for America just now. . .and are praying that God will visit your country with revival. . .You feel sorry for us in India because of our poverty in material things. We who know Lord in India feel sorry for you in America because of your spiritual poverty. We pray that God may give you gold tried in the fire which He had promised to those who know the power of His resurrection. . .In our churches we spend four or five or six hours in prayer and worship, and frequently our people wait on the Lord in prayer all night; but in America after you have been in church for one hour, you begin to look at your watches. We pray that God may open your eyes to the true meaning of worship. . .To attract people to meetings, you have a great dependence on posters, on advertising, on promotion, and on the build-up of a human being; in India we have nothing more than the Lord Himself and we find that He is sufficient. Before a Chrsitian meeting in India we never announce who the speaker will be. When the people come, they come to seek the Lord and not a human being or to hear some special favorite speaking to them. We have had as many as 12,000 people come together just to worship the Lord and to have fellowship together. We are praying that the people in America might also come to church with a hunger for God and not merely a hunger to see some form of amusement or hear choirs or the voice of any man."

Yours for souls,
Bakht Singh, a Christian leader in India.

A Story of a Cop....

...who needs his head examined. Another case for being punished for doing a good deed. The only possible explanation I can think of...is that when the cop got the call he spilled his jelly donut on his shirt and decided to take it out on this good samaritan. Where does good judgement come into play?

DENVER – A good Samaritan who helped push three people out of the path of a pickup truck before being struck and injured has gotten a strange reward for his good deed: A jaywalking ticket. Family members said 58-year-old bus driver Jim Moffett and another man were helping two elderly women cross a busy Denver street in a snowstorm when he was hit Friday night.
Moffett suffered bleeding in the brain, broken bones, a dislocated shoulder and a possible ruptured spleen. He was in serious but stable condition Wednesday.

The Colorado State Patrol issued the citation. Trooper Ryan Sullivan said that despite Moffett's intentions, jaywalking contributed to the accident. Moffett had been driving his bus when the two women got off. In the interest of safety, he got out and, together with another passenger, helped the ladies cross.

Moffett's stepson, Ken McDonald, said the driver of the pickup plowed into his stepfather, but not before Moffett pushed the two women out of the way.

When he awoke in intensive care, he learned of the ticket. "His reaction was dazed and confused. I was a little angry," said McDonald.

The other man also was cited for jaywalking, while the pickup driver was cited with careless driving that led to injury. Sullivan said the two elderly women haven't been cited but the investigation is ongoing.

Helicopters Over Keepville

A Visit from the Muirs

It was great to have the Muir's over. We always have such a good time. Julia clicks with Marilyn very well and that makes me happy. They both are such easy people to be around. They are just themselves and make us comfortable. We feel at ease with them in our home. Many times couples friends can be incompatible...the men click and the ladies don't or the ladies click and the men don't. It is great that Daryl and I can talk taxidermy, hunting, theology, church growth and the ladies are having a blast as well at whatever they are yacking at.
I think they are laughing at my expense in this pic.

They wanted to see T-Bones head.
