Just a word from the author of this blog...I am blogged out. I will resume blogging whenever the drive kicks back in. My apologies to my dedicated and loyal fans. I actually hit 992 views in one day. I think that has to be a record in my small bloggers friend world. So Joel Byers beat that one! His news is mostly about some mighty Canadian militia or some mighty Canadian hockey team. Joel you have my sympathy. Then there is Tim Calhoun's blog that is simple blog that offers a large quantity of sometimes poor quality photos and a few tall tales. Then there is the Georgian Jon Earls that keeps us up to date with outrageous church and political tales and even shares his thoughts on Twitter.

Here is new information about the killing of three Pittsburgh police officers on Saturday. Emergency officials now say a 9-1-1 operator knew the officers were going into a home where there were weapons.. but she did not warn the officers. We speak with Pastor Byron Gurnee, who is the brother-in-law of one of the officers killed.

Dear Students:

Our community suffered a devastating loss Saturday with the deaths of three Pittsburgh Police officers killed in the line of duty. I am saddened to report that one of the three officers, Officer Stephen J. Mayhle, was an IUP alumus. Officer Mayhle was a 2002 criminology department graduate and a native of Indiana.He is survived by his wife, Shandra; daughters Jennifer, 6, and Brooklynn, 3; his parents, of Indiana; and many members of his extended family. I have conveyed the deep sympathies of the IUP community to Mrs. Mayhle and her family.

A formal viewing for Officer Mayhle and his fallen comrades will be held Wednesday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the City County Building in Pittsburgh, and a funeral service for the officers will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh.Locally, friends will be received from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, Indiana. A private funeral service for family only will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with public internment to follow in Oakland Cemetery in Indiana.I know that you join me in remembering Officer Mayhle and his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
